Not a true Ash.  True Ash trees have opposite leaves and are in the Olive Family.  Mountain Ash is in the Rose Family.




Leaflets broad with slightly jagged edges.................Staghorn Sumac (Rhus hirta)
Unlike the unrelated Poison Sumac, this plant is not poisonous to the touch.




Leaflets oval-shaped and entire, stems thorny...........Black Locust (Robinia pseudoacacia)
